Hello Readers! A great souvenir is a single tangible memory keeper. I present to you KHRI’s Golden Jubilee Souvenir- ‘Embrace the past, Build the present, Vision the future’. Kerala Highway Research Institute completes 50 years in the year 2022 as the only Research Institute under the Public Works Department. It is my honour to bring out the souvenir in its Golden Jubilee year. Looking back, KHRI has been active in research, training and material testing. Some of our contributions to Kerala Road Research are the development of ‘Kandhal Mix’ for pothole patching and the study on the use of ‘waste plastic in road construction’.Furthermore, in the last couple of years, KHRI has seen tremendous improvement through revolutionary ideas and great minds to implement them. Be it the upgradation of KHRI to a Centre of Excellence (CoE) or NABL accreditation of our Laboratory, the whole ‘Team KHRI’ has shouldered the risks and overcame the challenges to get to where we are now.
With KHRI taking up new responsibilities as a CoE in the fields of Training, Research, Material Testing and Innovation, KHRIis destined to shine even more in the years to come. In this fast-changing world, if we don’t stay ‘Updated’ and ‘Upgraded’, we
will be ‘Outdated’. In KHRI, we catch every opportunity to get updated and upgraded in training, professional consultancy activities, innovative design initiatives and a lot more. Through the problem-solving hub in KHRI, we make every effort to transform problems into successful projects. Together, we seize every
