RESEARCH DISSEMINATION WORKSHOP ON MOISTURE SENSITIVITY OF HOT MIX ASPHALT (HMA)

Kerala Highway Research Institute organized a Research Dissemination Workshop on “MOISTURE SENSITIVITY OF HOT MIX ASPHALT (HMA)- A Comprehensive Study on the Petrology and Moisture Susceptibility of HMA Aggregate Sources/Quarries in Kerala” for the engineers of PWD and other government departments/Institutions on Nov 17, 2023 at KHRI. The Honourable Minister for Public Works and Tourism, Sri. P.A. Mohamed Riyas inaugurated this workshop. The principal investigator of the research work, Sri. Sreejith G H (Deputy Director, KHRI) and Dr. Anilkumar Y (Assistant Professor, Department of Geology, Kerala University). presented the research findings.

Advancing Surveying Techniques: A 5-Day Training Program at KHRI

The Kerala Highway Research Institute (KHRI) recently hosted a comprehensive 5-day training program from 29th January to 2nd February 2024 on Advanced Surveying Techniques, aimed at equipping PWD Engineers with cutting-edge skills and knowledge in the field of surveying. The sessions included both theoretical and hands on training of Remote sensing and GIS, QGIS, Robotic Total Station, DGPS, Drone Photogrammetry and LiDAR. The sessions were handled by Sri. Arun R Nath (Technical Expert, KHRI) and Dr Senthilkumar. V (Associate Professor, IIT Palakkad)

Geotechnical Investigation Report Review and Estimation of Bearing Capacity of Shallow Foundation

Moreover, exploring correlations between SPT N values and soil properties would have provided attendees with practical tools for characterizing soil strength and behavior. Overall, participants likely left the training session equipped with valuable skills and knowledge essential for effective geotechnical report review and foundation recommendation.
