Utilisation of Construction & Demolition Waste in Concrete

The sustainable practices emphasise the 3 R’s principle which is Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. The study started with an idea to understand the nature of various engineering properties of construction & demolition wastes. The concrete cube waste generated at KHRI was crushed to coarse and fine aggregates and used to produce concrete of grade M40, and also moulded into paver blocks suitable for laying in roads. The next phase of the project was envisioned with an objective of sustainable development, where construction wastes from building demolition sites would be transformed into cost effective building materials.
