The road traffic in Kerala growing at an alarming rate calls for urgent measures like road widening, updating the existing traffic control systems etc. That said, the initial step is the traffic studies on critical roads. The Traffic Engineering Division of KHRI conducts traffic volume count and turning movement surveys at intersections, investigations connected with road safety, accident black-spot analysis etc. Research associated with traffic and transportation planning studies is also a focus of this division.
